Linn Maxwell: The Cost of Loving Index

Singer Linn Maxwell appears with her new show The Cost Of Loving Index at Danny’s Skylight Cabaret Room (346 West 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues), Wednesdays, February 5 & 12, 2003 at 7:00 pm and Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at 7:00 pm. $12 music charge / $10 food/drink minimum, credit cards accepted.

The Cost Of Loving Index presents a number of love’s viewpoints from unconditional and fantasy, good and bad, interesting choices and getting what you want to settling for less – but ultimately, all at a price. From Brecht & Weill, Lerner & Lane, Peggy Lee and Spoliansky to Kander & Ebb, Sondheim, Bernstein, Maltby & Shire, Rupert Holmes and Adam Guettel.

Linn made her New York City cabaret debut in 2001 at Danny’s Skylight Cabaret Room with her show Uptown/Downtown; and recently appeared in the Off-Broadway production of the Mother of Us All by Virgil Thompson. Linn’s career has taken her to stages across the US and 25 foreign countries. Recent roles in musical theater include Joanne in Company, and Mama Morton in Chicago. Linn began her career in Europe, spending two seasons at the Stadtische Buhnen in Essen. Since, she has appeared with the orchestras of Chicago, Toronto, Cleveland, Seattle, Puerto Rico, and Berlin, and the operas of San Francisco, Santa Fe, Cincinnati, the Hungarian State Opera, Toulouse, Opera du Rhin of Strassbourg, Amsterdam and Essen. Linn’s New York debut recital in Alice Tully Hall garnered excellent press notices. Linn has performed with the Oratorio Society of Washington at the Kennedy Center, the Pro Arte Chorale at Carnegie Hall, the Oratorio Society of Utah in a nationally televised performance of Handel’s Messiah from the Mormon Tabernacle, and with Musica Sacra at Lincoln Center. Representative opera roles include Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and the upcoming 2003 role of Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro with Opera Grand Rapids; and Linn will sing the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Linn’s recordings include Gershwin Among Friends (Albany Records), Romances of the Russian Masters (Albany Records), and The Mother of Us All (New World Records).
